157 Genesee St. SERVICES: Courts - Criminal, Drug & Alcohol Treatment, Domestic Violence Monitoring, Behavioral Health Court, Mental Health Monitoring, DWI Monitoring Traffic, Parking Protest, Small Claims, Commercial Claims, GED Monitoring, Civil, Landlord/Tenant (evictions), Housing Code Violations Criminal Matters - For crimes committed in the City of Auburn. The court has jurisdiction to arraign defendants on felony, misdemeanors and violation offenses. City Court can hold preliminary hearings on felony cases before they are transferred to County Court. The Court only has jurisdiction to dispose of misdemeanors and violations. Felony dispositions are the jurisdiction of Cayuga County Court. Criminal Court – Monday - Friday at 10:00am Traffic Court – Friday at 8:30am Court Partnerships: Referrals to community programs and services include: Cayuga Counseling: -Pre-trial Diversion: available for first-time offenders between the ages of 16 and 21. This allows a defendant to avoid a criminal record upon successful completion. Partnership for Results -MOST: Mobile Outreach Services Team is a school based Mental Health Counseling Program. Contact Robin Kincaid, (315) 282-0005. -CORP: Chronic Offender Rehabilitation Program – community-based alternative to incarceration for young adults who are chronic offenders. Jury Trials – Held one week each month. Residents of the city/county are summoned by the Commissioner of Jurors. The jury phone line is (315) 255-4314. Civil Matters - Civil actions are for the recovery of money where the amount does not exceed $15,000. Wednesday at 8:30am. One party must reside in Auburn or contiguous town or be employed or have a place of employment for the regular conduct of business in the city and must be served in Cayuga County or contiguous County. Eviction Court - For properties located in the City of Auburn is held Wednesday at 8:30am. Small Claims Court – City Court has jurisdiction if the person being sued resides or is employed in Cayuga County. The maximum amount for which you can sue is $5,000. Small Claims Court meets Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00pm and 3:00pm; and at 6:30pm on the 1st Wednesday of the month. Commercial Claims Court – When the person filing a claim is a partnership or corporation, they must file a commercial claim rather than a small claim. The maximum amount for which you can sue is $5,000. Commercial Claims Court meets Tuesday and Thursday at 1:15pm. Drug & Alcohol Treatment Court – See separate listing in directory under “Auburn Drug & Alcohol Treatment Court”. Auburn Drug and Alcohol Treatment Court meets Mondays at 2:00pm. Domestic Violence Monitoring Court - For those defendants convicted of a domestic violence crime, the Court monitors their progress in court ordered programs such as RESPECT. Meets 2nd Thursday of the month at 2:00pm Behavioral Health Court – a court supervised treatment program for people who face criminal charges and who also suffer from a persistent mental health condition which is likely to have contribute to his or her involvement in the criminal justice system. Behavioral Health Court is a voluntary program that includes following a recommended treatment plan. Meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 3:00pm. DWI Monitoring Court - For those defendants convicted of a DWI, the Court monitors their progress in court ordered programs. Meets 2nd Thursday of the month at 3:00pm. GED Monitoring Court - For defendants who did not graduate from high school, the court monitors their progress in the process of obtaining a GED. Meets 2nd Thursday of the month at 1:00pm. Mental Health Monitoring Court - For those defendants whose sentence includes a treatment program, the Court monitors their progress in court ordered programs.
